Screenshots should be easy to share safely.
Redactly was created around a simple idea: hiding sensitive information in a screenshot should not require sending that screenshot to another company's server.
The problem
Screenshots can contain far more information than we intend to share. A single image can expose usernames, email addresses, passwords, API keys, access tokens, internal URLs, customer information or other sensitive details.
When someone needs to quickly blur or hide that information, the usual options are often inconvenient. They may involve installing photo-editing software, creating an account, paying for an editing service, or uploading a private image to an online server.
Why Redactly was created
Redactly was built to make this process simpler. The goal is to give anyone who needs to share a screenshot a quick way to blur, hide or redact sensitive information directly in the browser, without requiring a separate image-editing application.
Instead of treating screenshot editing as another reason to upload private images to a remote service, Redactly takes a local-first approach. The editor is designed to process the image in the browser rather than requiring the original screenshot to be sent to a backend for editing.
No account required
Redactly does not require users to create an account or register before using the editor. There is no need to hand over an email address just to hide sensitive information from a screenshot.
The idea is simple: open the editor, prepare the screenshot, and move on. Screenshot redaction should be a quick utility, not another service that requires a user profile or subscription before it becomes useful.
What's in the editor
Redactly started with hiding sensitive details and has grown into a small, focused screenshot workspace.
- Blackout, pixelate and blur
- Box, arrow, line and oval
- Pen and marker
- Text and numbered badges
- Crop and rotate
- Text or logo watermark
- Beautify backgrounds
- PNG, JPG and WebP export
- Copy to clipboard
- Undo, redo and shortcuts
Privacy by design
Redactly is designed so the basic screenshot editing workflow does not require storing the uploaded image on a server. The image can be loaded into the browser and edited locally, helping keep sensitive screenshot content on the user's device during the editing process.
This approach is especially useful when working with security reports, internal dashboards, customer information, credentials, development environments or other screenshots that should not be unnecessarily transferred to third-party infrastructure.

Our approach
Redactly focuses on keeping screenshot preparation simple, private and accessible. The basic editor is designed around local browser processing, so manipulating an image does not require a dedicated image-editing application or a remote editing service.
The result is a straightforward workflow: select a screenshot, hide the information that should not be shared, add any notes, and export the result when it is ready. No complicated setup, no mandatory registration and no unnecessary server-side image processing for the basic editing workflow.
